How we help and support a great cause

We all have fond childhood memories of a favourite day out at the seaside, the cinema or a theme park. For many disabled and disadvantaged children across the UK, however, these experiences are rare or may never happen at all.

Variety, the Children's Charity, wants to make sure as many young, curious minds as possible have the opportunity to generate their own happy memories.

The In Their Shoes campaign aims to support trips and days out for children across the UK, and create the magic moments that play a key role in a child’s personal and social development. Shoestore is proud to be a founding supporter & ambasador of the In Their Shoes campaign. Shoestore are contributing to the In their Shoes campaign by donating shoes to Variety that are returned and no longer able to be sold, As an ambassador of this campaign Shoestore would like to encourage their customers and suppliers to get involved and contribute to this campaign by recycling their old shoes, Shoestore will be helping the charity to continue its 50 years of providing children with the ‘best day of their life’.

For children like Luke in the short video below, a day out can be a life-enhancing experience. Hear Luke describe his ‘Best Day’

All footwear donated to Variety will also help to reduce the 1.5 million tonnes of clothing that is sent to landfill each year in the UK.

You can contribute to the In Their Shoes campaign by assembling your old or unwanted shoes. Any batch of twenty or more pairs can be collected by the campaign’s recycling partner, the European Recycling Company, and will help to ensure that opportunities for a great day out are available to as many children as possible.
